Part of an ongoing collection based on the idea of being fiercely and frustratingly human. A look at the significance and power of time, the beauty in breaking down, and how we can carry each other forward despite disaster, even despite death.
Inspired by the "infinity" symbol, each link is composed of four handmade jump rings. Of those four rings, two are soldered together, and two are melted down into silver spheres. Four components per link and 46-50 links per necklace makes for roughly 200 tiny components, plus the additional rings made and used to connect the completed links. Each connection has been soldered closed. Each link hammered to a reflective sequin.
While I realize these pieces aren't rosaries or mala strands, I think this immense amount of visual and constructive repetition feels so spiritual. Perhaps this is why I love this collection so much. A symbol of effort, persistence, presence, and peace in the moment. I hope you can feel the love in these as well as the giving of time over the days despite the simplicity of the motif. In and out we breathe, step by step we tread. Over and over, ever forward, ever onward.
