I am flowering more and more in the midst of autumn. Strange. I am flying high, a heroine... a helicopter. I'm a kite against a blue sky. I'm laughing.
While studying at Penland back in 2006, I was at a place in my life where I felt like I was both taking hold and letting go, and I built a pair of rings based on that fact (perhaps a blog post is in order). This current collection of rings is a revisitation to that time and place, as here I am again, only more so. Only better.
The Japanese Maple is starting to turn, as are the Bradford Pears and the Dogwoods. Green yields to ochre, then fire, and suddenly everything rides the breeze. Everything is in a state of tumbling down... free. This season more than any other reminds me of our annual revolution around the sun, of our steadfast evolution within that interior galaxy. Always shifting. Always growing, even in slumber.
Two thick layers of silver, one sliced and petaled, have been soldered together to create a thick, rustic setting for two complimentary sapphires. Somewhat an aggressive propeller, somewhat a passive blossom... rings that reflect the constant flux of settle and soar. I hope your autumn is full of color. I hope the rest of your year carries you into the spinning oblivion of a beautiful future.
