A high quality, high karat golden prehnite featuring a rare lemony-green color (as opposed to the more classic mossy hue) has been set upside down in a filigree prong setting. The position allows the most light to penetrate the stone and highlights the numerous cuts to the pavilion.
Built in joy and contrasting anxiety as I worked and reworked the patina, unable to commit between my typical highlighted finish or a gunmetal black. I opted for the latter after grinding out the bottom of each bezel- the result of which is a silver sparkle behind the prehnite and a deep housing of darkness to make the stone pop outward. In the end, I think the rustic finish and shaded metal work well. Art is an endless exercise in trusting yourself... I was reminded of that again during this process.
Wishing you all well.
