I found a light at the end of the smoggy summer tunnel. The first breezes of autumn blew in on the rain two weeks ago. I opened the windows to the cool, then closed them to the "cold" that any non-southerner would find smirkishly un-cold.
I exhaled the heat of the past and breathed deeply the cool change ahead. I lit candles instead of string lights. I brewed tea.
There is more than the soft flow of seasonal change on this autumnal horizon. There is the glimmer of greatness that only comes with cultivated change. I have worked hard at rearranging and redesigning my life. October is a beautiful backdrop for the shift to occur.
I read once, and I have mentioned this before, that the lonely and lost animals of the world become beautiful once they find love. I've known this first hand when my parents adopted a pitbull mix- lacking in expression and all personality until the love soaked in, and she shone in the glow of that. I believe it happens with people too, and that it has happened to me. The interior landscape of my soul has softened, brightened. How I have changed. While I feel my heart was never black, there was a time in my life when I felt interior darkness seeping into my words, my expressions, my manner of handling things. I find myself much more multi-faceted now; thoughtful, gentle, patient, and warm. For I found a beautiful heart, and that heart has in turn polished mine.
These rings are relatively simple. I have been more focused on the internal fire than external embellishment in this series. While detail and depth are always important to my aesthetic, my quietude and sincerity in searching out the soul of my desires and future life is reflected in the straight-forward and honest presentation of these stones.
Sometimes more is just more. I have exchanged the flowery feel of summer for the barren beauty of the autumn. Where everything gets stripped down to naked beauty of color then form, and the canvas is wiped clean for the life spell that lies ahead.
Cheers to change.

One thing I love about these sapphires is how their color shifts in varying lights. You will find this ring to go from muted to vivid depending on where you find yourself. I hope you embrace that as you would the shifts in your own mood and spirit.
